4 DIY Jobs You Can Do in Just a Weekend

Many people set about tackling jobs in their homes on a weekend. You will often find queues of people at the rubbish tip clearing out their junk or heading to the local DIY store to stock up on tools or materials. It’s seen as the perfect time to get working on those DIY projects. But what can you achieve on just a weekend? Quite a lot if you set your mind to it. This is why I thought I would share with you some of the DIY jobs you could complete on your home this weekend.

#1. Putting up shelves

Shelves are one of those things that we all think we can do. But when it comes to it not many of us can get this job done quickly. This is because there is more to it than just fixing it to the wall. It’s working out the perfect spot for them. Make sure that they are completely level, and that there is enough space. This is why getting in tools to help you do the job makes life a little easier. Impact drivers would be something extra to consider. Along with screwdrivers and spirit levels. All of which will come in handy. Shelves can transform a room and are often not utilized enough in home decoration.

#2. Putting furniture together

Who doesn’t love a bit of flatpack furniture? The weekend is seen as the perfect time to sit down with the instructions and set all the tools out and screws you need. Then put it all together. However, many of us don’t tend to read the instruction until we have at least attempted to put the furniture together by sight at least once. It’s the flatpack furniture prerogative. The DIY job is probably the one that will cause the most arguments over a weekend. As you state your point of how things should be done. But in the end, it’s one of those satisfying DIY jobs that you can certainly complete during a weekend.

#3. Painting a room

Getting the rollers and brushes out could either fill you with dread or excitement. But decorating a room and painting the walls is definitely a DIY job that can be completed within the weekend. It’s probably one of the top jobs people try and tackle. Redecorating a room, especially if you are considering a new color scheme, can transform the way it looks and makes your home feel amazing. However, you do run the risk of making the other rooms in your home look in need of decoration themselves. So be prepared to spend a few weekends doing this. You have been warned.

#4. Sorting out storage

Why is it that the weekend just invites you to declutter your home? It just presents itself as the perfect time to sort out those messy drawers and clear out your wardrobe. This is why sorting out new storage solutions could be on your DIY job list this weekend. This might mean creating cupboard space in rooms, putting up better wardrobes, or just reorganizing your home. However, don’t be deterred by this job. It’s pretty rewarding once everything is sorted.
